What an experience you’ll have discovering the heritage of the Normandy land, with its intensely flavored local products! Nest is all about sharing, so together we will prepare 1 full dinner composed of French specialties made from seasonal produce currently found on the local market stalls. You’ll learn some techniques from the world of French cuisine as well as the chef’s tricks about how to create simple yet sophisticated, tasty dishes just as you like them. And because Nest is also about friendly togetherness, we’ll sit together to enjoy  the dinner that we create from the heart in a chic and relaxed atmosphere, just like the perfect special occasion!

Nature is right there next to us. With the energetic and resolute step of those who want to get as much from their holiday as possible, we’ll visit the most captivating gardens in Normandy, boasting the most beautiful collection of hydrangeas in the entire world.

There’s no fairy tale without a castle! And at the foot of a secret and enigmatic castle, we’ll enjoy a chic picnic accompanied by champagne. At a candlelit dinner, you’ll get to taste delicacies prepared just for you.

To make the most of your visit with us, we’ll make sure that our rambles around Dieppe and the surrounding area give you a unique opportunity to experience the invaluable cultural wealth of this region.

Day by day – details of your stay

Day 1:

On your first day with us, we’ll await your arrival at the house around 10 a.m. For those of you arriving by train, we’ll meet you directly at the station (and we can also organize shuttles from Paris itself or from the airport – please just ask for more information).

Once you’ve investigated the house and settled into your room, we’ll start our visit in a gentle manner with an informal guided visit of Dieppe, where you can experience the town’s history and architecture. As we move through its historic streets past churches and monuments, you’ll discover a town that is full of adventure. Back to the house, we’ll all enjoy a welcome lunch (regional cheese sampling) accompanied by a nice glass of wine in the garden as we get to know each other, giving you the opportunity to share your expectations about your stay. Afternoon, you’ll enjoy walking along the shore, and why not sunbathe… and you’ll relax while taking in the sights on a wonderful boat trip. At the end of the day, you’ll have time to pick up the perfect souvenir of this unique experience.

After a wonderful moment of tranquility while enjoying a regional pre-dinner drink – taken in the beach hut, a little cabin that epitomizes the pleasures of the seaside- we’ll return to the house, and all share a candlelit dinner, prepared for you, with delightful seafood specialties.

Day 2:

Following a continental breakfast, we’ll depart on foot to discover the delights of the farmers’ market, which – like the house – is located in the very center of the town. This market is one of the largest in Normandy, attracting the best producers of the region. Here you’ll find vegetables fresh from the plot, seasonal fruits from local orchards and traditional cooked meats. You’ll also find cheese makers, some of whom are sure to have some regional specialties. During this stroll, we’ll replenish food stocks for your stay!

Today is a slightly magical kind of day, so we’ll enjoy a glass of wine and share a chic picnic at the heart of a garden brimming with flowers and vegetables in the grounds of a delightful castle that will throw its arms open to welcome us.

After such a good start to the day, we’ll maintain our momentum with a walk of between 7.5 and 11 miles along a trail that takes us between the countryside and the sea.

Then – because evening will already be drawing in – we’ll return to the house where the ever-ready Colin will have planned a menu that’s 100% pure Dieppe – and you’ll help him to prepare it! Following a now traditional pre-dinner drink and our shared dining experience, we’ll have plenty of opportunity to make the most of the long evenings by strolling along the chalk cliff on which the castle stands.

Day 3:

Because Nest is also a place for rest, today is your time to relax and leave any stress behind.

After your breakfast, we’ll take a few hours to make sure that we’re all feeling our best – by visiting the famous Dieppe spa, which is located right on the beach. You can enjoy a swim in the heated outside Olympic-sized seawater pool as well as making use of the hammam, sauna and gym. And for those of you who want to feel really wonderful – how about a massage or beauty treatment?

For lunch, we’ll travel to a nearby beach where you’ll enjoy the simple, 1950s-style pleasure of delicious oysters and shrimps (with a choice of other dishes for those who prefer).

To make the most of the day, you’ll be driven to our destination for a garden visit – a few miles away from the beach restaurant. This walk takes place in the grounds of a magnificent Arts & Crafts house. In a 12-hectare valley, we’ll discover more than 100 different species of tree, with one of the most beautiful collection of hydrangeas and rhododendrons in the world.

All this exploring is sure to work up an appetite!

Without delay, we’ll join Colin, who has prepared some of his wonderful regional recipes. After that moment of tranquility while enjoying a regional pre-dinner drink, we’ll share the fruits of Colin work at a celebratory meal. For those who remain full of energy, we can take a casual stroll along the beach, which is just over 200 yards from the house!

Day 4:

After breakfast, we’ll visit our last garden, which is one of the most beautiful of them all, with an incredible profusion of plant species.

For lunch, we’ll enjoy a traditional Normandy dish on Dieppe beach.

Around 5 p.m. we’ll say our farewells – with the hope of seeing you again soon!
